At the “Gallery Odeio” of the Kostis Palamas Center for Culture and Olympism, with the continuous presence of personalities from culture, Olympism, art, and letters, a multitude of sensitive fellow citizens honored the presentation of the moving book by author Dimitris Hasapis, titled “Women Mathematicians on the Margins of History.”

Yesterday, Wednesday, December 11th, at the aesthetic Art Hall “Gallery Odeio” of the Kostis Palamas Center for Culture and Olympism, in the presence of art lovers and people from the fields of art, culture, and intellect, the book presentation of the esteemed author Dimitris Hasapis took place.

The event was organized by the well-known bookstore “Gonia tou Vivliou” (The Book Corner), recognized for its contribution to arts and letters. The coordination and presentation of the book were performed expressively and comprehensively by the excellent speakers: Professor Filareti Zafeiropoulou, Vice President of the Hellenic Mathematical Society, Achaia branch, and Maria Chatzinikolaou, Professor at the Hellenic Open University.

They guided us through a journey of romance and sensitivity by describing the portraits of thirty-five selected pioneering women mathematicians who, across different historical periods, countries, and cultures, overcame obstacles and prejudices and made decisive contributions to the advancement of science.

However, for these women, history and the histories of mathematics have only dedicated brief comments or minimal references at their margins or have completely ignored them.

The author, Dimitris Hasapis, after thanking the guests, the hosts of Gallery Odeio, Mrs. Georgia Yachou and Theodoros Mallias, and the aforementioned speakers, then vividly elaborated on the journey of writing his book—a path of romance and sensitivity that deeply moved the audience and offered aesthetic fulfillment.

Finally, on behalf of the Kostis Palamas Center for Culture and Olympism and the Fine Arts Association of Patras, Kostis Palamas, the President and author Theodoros Mallias awarded the author the renowned commemorative book of the Association titled “Artists Create Culture” in recognition of his great contribution to culture and letters.

On behalf of the “Gallery Odeio” of the Kostis Palamas Center for Culture and Olympism,
