THE PATRAS ASSOCIATION OF FINE ARTS “KOSTIS PALAMAS” UPLIFTED THE HEARTS OF GREEK COMMUNITY OF SAN FRANCISCO THROUGH THE SPEECH OF THE PRESIDENT PROFESSOR MALLIAS THEODOROS
It was a touching and timely Event for our Hellenism, with the presence of personalities of Education of Culture and Businessmen, in the context of the celebrations of the National War of Independence of 1821, dedicated to the sacred struggle and the contribution of the poet Costis Palamas to the Rise of our Nation and revival of the Olympic ideals.

The event took place, on the other side of America in San Francisco, in the heart of North American Hellenism, in the impressive Multi-Theme Hall of the City, on Sunday, April 6th at 7 pm.
The event was organized with special curatorship by Dr. Papalexopoulos Alex of the Foundation for Modern Hellenic Studies, with Professor Theodore Mallias as Honorary Speaker, who traveled to the United States with the first official presentation of his speech in New Jersey, as a guest of the distinguished physician, Dr. George Dendrinos and then to the New York Hellenism Center at the Stathakio Cultural Center on March 28, as a guest of the President of the Association of Patras’s people of New York, Mr. Seretis Panos.

Professor Mallias’ presentation was very informative and educational, accompanied by slides, narratives, video and photographic material.
The hall was crowded with a number of personalities of the Greek community and they were given the opportunity in an expressive and convincing way to learn about the life and work of our great poet and the timeless and global importance of the Olympic Symbols of Olympism.
The event was addressed by the Regional Governor of Western Greece, Mr. Farmakis Nektarios, the Rector of the University of Patras and the Honorary Consul of Cyprus, acknowledging the important contribution of the Homogenous people to the Greek culture and our national identity.

The event was highly timely, as Hellenism worldwide celebrates the 204th anniversary of Greek Independence. Knowledge and honour to the heroes and spiritual leaders of our nation are an integral part of preserving our historical memory and national heritage.
Professor Mallias Theodoros, continues his tour of the United States, with upcoming stops in Los Angeles on April 13 and to Montreal, Canada on April 23 where he will present the work of Costis Palamas and the Declaration of Peace and the cultivation of Excellence that is projected and highlighted through the poet’s Olympic anthem.

In fact, he makes a universal appeal to America and the International Olympic Committee in view of the Olympic Games “Los Angeles 2028” to apply the Ancient Greek “Truce” to the participating peoples of Earth during the Olympic Games.
An important culmination of his research work is the luxurious publication of a book on “Olympism” which records in detail the life, work and contribution of our National Poet to Olympism and the journey of the formation of the Olympic Spirit which was presented by Dr.Papalexopoulos Alex.

This was followed by an honorary presentation of the book on Olympism to the honorary professors of the University of Sacramento, Dr. Katerina Lagos and the professor of the University of Berkeley, Christina Filou.
The event in San Francisco was a hymn to the Greek word and our historical continuity, strengthening the ambition and national pride of our expatriates.
A big salute to the Hellenism of San Francisco and the Foundation for Modern Greek Studies as well as to the Fine Arts Association of Patras “Kostis Palamas” and the Gallery “Odeon” of the Olympism-Culture Center “Kostis Palamas”.
